Strategy & Innovation

Learn how the University of Georgia's unique, custom-designed sock gifts for new scholarship recipients and incoming students created memorable first impressions and sparked excitement across campus.

The Challenge:

The University of Georgia (UGA) wanted to make a memorable impression on newly accepted scholarship recipients. The staff decided to offer an accepted student gift that celebrated the students' achievements, and also instilled a sense of pride and excitement about joining the UGA community. The challenge? Finding a unique, engaging and thematic gift that would resonate with the incoming students.

The Solution:

In response to this challenge, UGA collaborated with Campus Stop to design a custom creative gift that perfectly aligned with their objectives. Campus Stop produced custom color-matched socks, each paired with a congratulatory card that expressed a playful message: “You knocked our socks off. Your academic commitment is impressive. Congratulations on your scholarship!”

This unique pairing provided a functional gift, as well as a personalized touch that celebrated the students’ academic success in 2016 and 2017. Campus Stop individually packaged the socks and cards so they were ready for gifting, ensuring a professional presentation and seamless delivery.

Bonus Round: After sending accepted scholarship students celebratory gifts, UGA wanted to welcome their entire incoming class of undergraduates in style starting in 2018. Once again, the Campus Stop team sprung into action, this time individually packing and shipping custom socks, with a custom greeting insert card in a UGA-branded poly mailer bag, to more than 13,000 incoming UGA students across the country. All the admissions team had to do was sit back, relax, and watch their accompanying social media campaigns take off!

The Result:

The custom sock and card initiative was a resounding success with scholarship recipients and incoming students – pleasantly surprised and delighted by the thoughtful and useful gift. The unique choice of socks as a congratulatory and welcoming token helped foster a sense of community and school spirit among the recipients before they even set foot on campus.

The excitement generated by these campaigns were evident in the enthusiastic reception and the positive buzz it created on social media. UGA’s admissions team achieved their goal of making a lasting impression on new students year after year, setting a positive tone for their upcoming college experience. UGA has counted on Campus Stop to send custom show-stopping socks with a personalized message to students for eight years.
